Snowflake offended. What The Hell Is Going On?

Well as the father of 3 and Grandfather of 4. I think society has gone ridiculously soft.

We seem to be breeding a generation who are encouraged to think there’s no such thing as a loss. In the schools now it seems you can’t not win. You get a partition prize. Well done you turned up. Everyone’s a winner.

But the real world as we all know is nothing like that. In the real world there’s winning and losing. Everyone reading this has won and lost. You just must experience failure in my opinion, to be any good. I have and I expect you have learned far more from failure than we’ve ever done from success.

What are we doing when all our kids, just think they win all the time?  They come 9th in a race and they get a medal.  Whoopee ‘kin doo. Well done you turned up.  Why? Why do we give them a medal, I didn’t get a medal, my kids didn’t get a medal we were asked how did you come 9th?

We’ve got to get back to a more competitive spirit. In this snowflake generation, yeah, I know, people don’t like being called snowflakes, of course they don’t, they hate just about everything and they’re frightened by everything and they’re offended by everything.

The name comes from the phrase “special snowflake”, meaning somebody who is self-obsessed and fragile, easily offended, or unable to deal with old school opinions.

As adults, they’d rather give someone a label for a different opinion.  Their anxiety rates are going through the roof because they’ve had it so easy. Well suck it up buttercups, there’s a sh*tstorm coming.

Let’s be clear about life today. There’s never been a safer time to be alive. There are fewer wars, people are living longer, and they are living in a heathier way, Statistically, this is the best time to be alive. But if you talk to the younger generation, this is the worst time every minute of their lives to ever exist. And they have anxiety about absolutely everything.

Partly that is down to the way we are educating them we’re just too damn soft and it’s a global thing. Yes, you can have a mobile (cell) phone, as an example. The system is letting our children down. A lot of the time Parents are letting their children down. They need to be taught about the real world, respect for others, respect for authority. If you want something, then you must earn it.  Want pocket money?  Washing up needs doing, or car needs washing.  Anything to teach them things have value.

Sadly, I don’t know who the winners are. The kids don’t win. They get covered in cotton wool and when they enter the real world they think “Hang on, the real world looks awful” Well it would do wouldn’t it. When you’ve been mollycoddled

If you want it, you’ve got to work at it, you’ve got to earn it. Or how about teaching them 2nd is nowhere. Want to win the race? Train more and run faster. If you’ve got nothing and you do nothing about it, then you’ll continue to have nothing. Try teaching business studies or people skills. How about teaching how to remember things, or how to speed read. Better I would have thought than a foreign language they’re likely to never use.

So what do you think about this post?  I would love to hear your views. just comment below

All The Best.
